Camp Details

This 5-practice camp is designed to accelerate paddler development by focusing on essential body and blade mechanics that enhance stroke power. Participants will engage in drills both on and off the water, helping them build proper alignment and awareness of how to integrate these mechanics into their stroke technique. By the end of the camp, paddlers will have refined skills that significantly improve their overall performance on the water.

Goal of a 5-practice/2-day camp: Provide drills and feedback to aid in paddler development.

Intentions of a camp: Develop awareness of body, blade and stroke mechanics that deliver stroke power over the 5 practices.


CAMP STRUCTURE PRACTICE 1

  • 60’ instruction/education
  • 60’ evening practice (on water)

CAMP STRUCTURE PRACTICE 2 + 3

  • 75’ morning practice (on water)
  • 60’ individual coaching in boat
  • 1 hour Lunch break
  • 90’ afternoon practice (on water)

 CAMP STRUCTURE PRACTICE 4 + 5

  • 60’ instruction/education
  • 60’ morning practice (on water)
  • 1 hour Lunch break
  • 90’ afternoon practice (on water)


WHAT TO EXPECT: Lots of paddling so come prepared.

HOW TO PLAN: Plan for down time in between paddles and to force a recovery with food, fluids and rest.

WEATHER:  Rain or shine - come prepared

WHAT TO BRING:

  • Lunch
  • Water
  • Energy drinks or bars
  • Powerade or Gatorade for hot weather
  • Snacks high in sugar and carbs (fruit, veggies, gummies)
  • Cold weather gear
  • Hot weather gear
  • Change of clothes (2 changes of clothes is recommended)
  • Towel
  • Sunscreen
  • Bug spray
  • Vaseline or Zinc ointment
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Butt pad
  • Yoga matt or large towel/blanket

Clinic Details

These 2-hour on-water sessions are designed to help paddlers develop the stroke mechanics for each phase: setup, catch, pull, press, and exit, regardless of stroke style. By focusing on the effectiveness of each phase, paddlers will have the opportunity to refine their technique and improve every aspect of their stroke. Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of their stroke and get the tools to continue improving their skill sets.

Goal of a 2-hour clinic – This session is drill focused and are targeted for paddlers who want to work on their stroke and develop paddling skills specific to the dragon boat.

Intentions of a camp - Clinics are perfect for new and experienced paddlers who are interested in stroke mechanics and have specific aspects of the stroke they are working on.

  • 30’ instruction/education
  • 60’ practice (on water)
  • 60' individual coaching on water


WHAT TO EXPECT: Lots of paddling so come prepared.

HOW TO PLAN: Bring a snack and fluids.

WEATHER:  Rain or shine - come prepared
