“I’m not ready for a camp like this.”
I hear this more than you think. Along with the following beliefs.
I am ….
- too old
- not fit enough
- not competitive
- afraid I won’t keep up
Here’s the truth: Camp is not about where you should be.
IT’S ABOUT WORKING FROM WHERE YOU ARE.
I’m a competitive coach but my camps are sport specific - for all levels.
You don’t need national team goals
You don’t need to be the best
You don’t need to prove anything
I’ve been the recreational paddler, the club crew teammate, the national team athlete, and the coach who has led teams to the podium through my 30’s, 40’s 50’s and now 60’s.
I have coached paddlers at all ages and stages of development. I also understand what it’s like to navigate injury, aging, and getting back into a training routine when you’ve lost your mojo.
That lived experience shapes how I coach.
I have learned the importance of paddling in alignment to be more effective and a whole lot easier on my body.
I have learned to manage the different energy systems to have the power when needed.
I have learned that tweaking one simple thing changes my ability to have more power in my stroke without having to put out more effort!!
Regardless of what life throws me, I always come back to my sport. Paddling is still the place that feeds my soul. It is the platform I choose that makes me WANT to stay active. And this new lived experience shapes how I run camps. Below is the focus of the upcoming camp.
In the camps I coach you’ll learn how to:
- improve mind–body–blade alignment
- gain insight to be more technical in your stroke
- learn practical drills you can use to build power
- progress and improve due to the nature of practices!
Whether your goal is competing, getting better, or simply understanding your stroke, what I teach applies.
You don’t come because you’re “ready.”
You come because you want to improve.
That’s the work.
Camps are about giving you clarity, awareness, and tools you can use long after the camp ends to continue to paddle, get stronger and enjoy the sport wherever it finds you.
